Those gallant men who fought the war
Without real food, reprieve or rest,
Who never quit, though tired or sore,
Their greatest foe, their greatest test.

Brave men in grey, brave men in blue,
Good friends who chose a different side;
Their way of life was split in two.
Their bodies were not all that died.

No one should blame the fated strong.
Each thought their right was to defend.
All men can think which side was wrong.
No one can doubt the tragic end.

Their never were more sadder plights
Then those that died on battle sites.
