Help with Humility

Help should not be just a once in a while event,
A grand show for others to see how well your time was spent.
It shouldn’t be just a day set aside to feed
Your conscience, but to help whenever there’s a need.
Help should be offered when it’s truly needed.
From genuine compassion and not from the conceited.
It should never be given in the form of obligation,
Or to enhance your position, status or station.
Help should never be just about you.
The credit’s not as important as the help you may do.
It shouldn’t be done with either fanfare or a grumble.
Help should be given from the heart, willing and humble.
