The Night Croaker

A frog was croaking off in the distance,
As I was trying to sleep, it went on with persistence.
Whether warding off foes or calling his mate,
He grew quite annoying because it was so late.

Normally such natural, nocturnal sounds
Can be somewhat lulling when it comes from your grounds.
But not when you’re just about to doze off
After a tiring day, it just makes you scoff.

When flood waters create a pond in your yard,
To receive peace and quiet, it can be very hard
To achieve a friendly, peaceful coexistence,
With a frog croaking loudly with such noisy insistence.
