Thank You For Your Service

Thank you for your service,
Seems so inadequate to say,
For all that you had gone through
And for the work you did each day.

Thank you for your service.
You deserve our utmost respect,
For you were doing heroic feats,
While at home, we safely slept.

Thank you for your service,
For doing what we could not,
For your sacrifice in violent times
No matter the prevailing thought.

Thank you for your service.
May this be the take away,
That the work you did is valued.
Your memory will not decay.

Thank you for your service.
May we hope and may we pray
That what you did was not in vain
And that peace will reign one day.

For all of those who’ve gone before
That can not hear us personally say anymore,
Thank you for your service.
