By Journey’s End

The journey starts at a tender young age
Changing and progressing with each new stage.
Not exactly knowing the way I must go,
But knowing each mile will only help me to grow.

And though sometimes scary, different than planned,
I must change though, I may not understand,
Just where this journey is leading me to,
But I know it’s something I have to do .

To change and adjust and carry this load,
I must keep on traveling this uncertain road.
I can’t look back and wish I were the same
Or look back with regret, longing, or shame .

I must realize that with every turn
There are impactful things for me to learn.
For if I am the same as I was back when
Then I haven’t grown by journeys end.
