Broken Wings

A little bird with broken wings
Found another bird to make her heart sing.

He helped her to fly
And to touch the sky,
To laugh and to love
And go fiercely high,

To soar the horizon,
To experience new heights.
Together they danced
In the air like kites.

They loved how they flew
With one another,
This sister Christian
And Jonathan Brother.

Then the sky grew dark
And the winds became rough,
And they wondered if their wings
Were strong enough.

It was hard to fly through the storm
Holding on so tight,
So they distanced apart
To find a course that was right.

Though they had weathered through
Most of the wrath,
To fly close again,
They needed a smoother path.

So the little bird with broken wings
Let the other fly away,
Hoping that their love
Would bring him back to her someday.
