We are Gardeners

If we plant a seed, God will make it grow,
But we must be careful with what we sow.

We are the hands that were given the calling,
Though sometimes our actions can be very appalling.

Do we yell at it when it’s taking too long?
Do we shove it aside when we don’t get along?

Do we leave it alone when its leaves are wilting?
Do we quickly criticize when its stem is lilting?

Do we throw it out, start over, or give it to another?
Do we not give it space to grow, but crowd and smother?

If we wouldn’t do this with green living creations,
Why do we do it with our own human relations?

We are all gardeners, just some of us care more about what we grow.
We are all gardeners, just some of us are more careful with what God grows.
