Life Cycle

First we lay, and then we sit.
Next we crawl, nothing we omit.
Then we stand straight and tall
And then we run without a fall.

We learn to skate and then to ski,
Lucky to get by with just a scrapped knee.
This day and age, now we can fly.
And off we go into the night sky.

And, then we walk slow, not even a skip.
Hips and disks start to slip.
Our backs bend so that we have to sit.
We’d crawl, but it wouldn’t seem quite fit.

Finally still, we have to lie.
Isn’t it odd how time passes by.

I wrote this when I was younger, and now with each passing year, the cycle is getting closer to coming back around. Enjoy each part of the cycle of life because each part of life beats the alternative.
